Course Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the fundamental principles of electrical safety in power generation, transmission, and distribution environments.
- Identify electrical hazards associated with high-voltage systems, substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and electrical equipment.
- Apply international electrical safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices to minimize workplace risks.
- Conduct effective electrical hazard identification and risk assessments before performing electrical work.
- Implement safe work procedures, including permit-to-work systems, isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and switching operations.
- Select, inspect, and correctly use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for electrical work.
- Recognize and control arc flash, arc blast, electric shock, and other electrical hazards.
- Apply emergency response procedures for electrical incidents, including rescue techniques and first aid for electric shock victims.
- Investigate electrical incidents and identify root causes to prevent recurrence.
- Promote a proactive electrical safety culture that enhances operational reliability and regulatory compliance.
